Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his maiden trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt since spring of that year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete positively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The pair traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour championship, gained dominance to push for a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
